Monument of the Original Koza Pig
The monument was built to honor the achievements of "Pendray bugle boy II(*)", the founder of the Koza pig.
It was born in England in 1931.
The following year, it was one of the two Yorkshire breeds of pigs Koza-gun imported from Britain to breed ahead of the rest of the country.
It had been managed in Ozo, Samukawa Town since 1934, and had more than 600 pigs on which it had bred, establishing the basis of a reputation of koza-buta pigs throughout the country.
Its descendants won the "National Meat Exposition" held in Shibaura, Tokyo from December 12 to 17 in 1935, so the name "Koza Pig" became known nationwide.
It died in Ozo in April 1940.
*: This spelling is uncertain.
