Hanakawa Yosui irrigation channel

Hanakawa Yosui has been used since the Edo period as a main irrigation channel.
At that time, water from the Mekushiri-gawa River was taken from the Oyanagi Dam (be thought to be near the current clean center) in Miyayama Village and supplied to the nine villages of Miyayama Village, Koyato Village, Oozou Village, Okada Village, Nakaze Village, Oomagari Village, Ichinomiya Village, Tabata Village and Hagizono Village in Chigasaki City.
Therefore, it was also called "The nine villages Yosui".
There is a water union that controls the management, operation and interests of the facilities when using the water. In the Edo period, there were many disputes within the water union over the dam that divides the water. It shows how important it was to secure water at that time.
It was later reorganized as part of the left bank canal of the Sagami River in 1940.
Even today, it is used as a main irrigation channel and supplies water to many rice paddies in the town.
